As UP faces a severe heatwave, Balrampur Hospital in Lucknow has set up cold wards with AC, medicines, and equipment to treat heatstroke patients. Doctors advise people to stay indoors between 12-4 pm and take precautions like drinking water, using ORS, and covering up when going outside.
Speaking to ANI, DM Avnish Rai also assured that hospitals are prepared to treat heatstroke victims, urging the public to take the necessary precautions and stay safe during the extreme heat.
The heatwave in large parts of the country has claimed 114 lives and more than 40,000 suspected heatstroke cases have been reported between March 1 and June 19 this year, said sources from the Union Health Ministry.
Union Health Minister JP Nadda reviewed the heatwave situation across the country on Wednesday and instructed the establishment of special heatwave units in central government hospitals.

Amidst prevalent heatwave conditions in the national capital, Lok Nayak Hospital has reported that nine patients were admitted on Wednesday due to heatstroke.
"A total of 22 patients have been admitted to the hospital and five have lost their lives due to suspected heatstroke. 12 patients are on ventilators and in critical situation. The majority of patients are labourers who work in extreme conditions," the hospital official said.
