Sri Lanka women's team created history on Wednesday by recording their first-ever series triumph over England in any format. The historic 2-1 series triumph came courtesy of a dominant seven-wicket victory over Heather Knight's side in the third T20I in Derby.
Ahead of the opening game of the three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka, Knight said in the pre-match press conference that things are improving gradually.
The series ended in a 8-8 draw and Australia retained the Ashes. While Australia won the one-off Test and got those crucial four points, England won both white-ball series by 2-1 and got two points per win.
The victory allowed England to clinch the ODI component of the series 2-1, but Australia still retained the Ashes as the multi-format series ended tied at 8-8 following the seven matches.
England skipper Heather Knight said that she thought they had the victory before Australia snatched away the win right from their hands to retain the Ashes on Sunday.
England will take on Australia at Southampton in the second ODI. The series is level at 6 points each. Australia secured a 6-0 lead by winning the one-off Test in Nottingham worth four points and the first T20I, which gave them two points. England fought back to even the scoreline with win i
England skipper Heather Knight was full of joy and ecstasy after she guided her side to a two-wicket victory but she admitted that they made the job tough for themselves.
