The highest recorded temperatures in Delhi reached a maximum of 40 degrees Celsius on Saturday, climbed to above 42 degrees on Sunday, and reached 44 degrees Celsius on Monday.
"We have issued a heatwave alert for today for south Haryana, Delhi, south UP, north MP, Jharkhand, Bihar and Bengal. Tomorrow, a heatwave alert is not given for any place other than Jharkhand," said Soma Sen Roy while talking to ANI.

The department further informed that the maximum temperature is very likely to gradually rise by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius at many places over the districts of Odisha during the next 24 hours and thereafter no large changes are likely.
