Offering little respite to people reeling under a savage and searing summer wave across the vast swathes of the country's northern belt, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday predicted heatwave to severe heatwave conditions to prevail over parts of Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryan
As the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red alert for Delhi and other parts of North India, health experts have warned people not to go outside from 11 am-4 pm as it can lead to several health issues.
As temperature soars and heat wave kicks in, Dr Neeraj Nishchal, professor in the Department of Medicine at AIIMS, New Delhi, advised the public to exercise caution during peak heat hours to prevent heat-related illnesses.
According to the Meteorological Centre in Shimla, the heat wave is likely to continue in isolated pockets in the districts of Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Solan, Sirmaur, Kangra, and Shimla districts of Himachal Pradesh for the next 4 to 5 days.
Taking to its social media handle, the IMD posted, "Today, heat wave to severe heat wave conditions were observed in some parts of Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat. Heat wave conditions in many parts of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi; in isolated pockets of Madhya Pradesh."
