Following the rising number of Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS) cases in Pune, Maharashtra Health Minister Prakashrao Abitkar said that Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has instructed officials to form a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to control the rise in number of cases.
In an update to the increasing cases of GBS (Guillain-Barre Syndrome), the total number of cases in Maharashtra's Pune has risen to 111. Maharashtra Health Minister Prakash Abitkar on Monday said that 17 patients diagnosed with GB syndrome have been put on ventilators.
Expressing concerns over the increasing cases, Maharashtra Health Minister Prakash Abitkar, said that 73 patients had been diagnosed with GB syndrome. "Of the 101 suspected patients, 73 have been diagnosed with GBS. There has been one death," the minister told ANI during his visit here.
Speaking to the media, Health Minister Itoo said that at first when five people died, the health department visited the spot and took samples of 3,500 people.
Amid rising concern around Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV), Haryana Health Minister Arti Singh Rao assured the people that the state is ready to handle the situation and said there is no need to panic.
"HMPV virus was found in 2001 and is still found today. It is one of the many viruses that are found in the respiratory system. An advisory has been issued by the Gujarat government."
While addressing concerns, Health and Family Welfare Minister Dhaniram Shandil stated that there is no imminent threat from the virus and assured the public that it is a common respiratory virus primarily affecting young children and the elderly.
