Leader of the opposition in Lok Sabha and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi left for stampede-affected Hathras. He will be meeting the families affected by the stampede, that claimed the lives of 121 people.
Uttar Pradesh State Minister of Jal Shakti Swatantra Dev Singh condoled the deaths in the Hathras stampede incident and called it "tragic and heartbreaking.".
Mathur also mentioned that six people have been arrested in the incident and Rs 1 lakh reward has been announced on the arrest of the main accused, Prakash Madhukar.
Referring to the stampede at a religious event in Hathras, RJD leader Manoj Kumar Jha said on Thursday that India has become a country plagued by accidents.
Uttar Pradesh Police constable Sheela Maurya, who was on security duty at the Hathras religious event, said the stampede occurred as a large number of people rushed to exit the venue together. In the Hathras stampede, 123 people were killed.

"Yesterday I went to meet the women who got injured in the tragic incident of Hathras. Also met the DC and SP to make sure the culprits must be arrested. The Baba who makes fool of these innocent women and ran away after the incident must be booked and arrested immediately," Sharma posted on
Union Minister SP Singh Baghel met Hathras stampede victims' families in Agra. He said that as per the information received 17 people in Agra district were killed. Out of the deceased, 16 are women and one is a man.
Hours after police force deployed outside Bhole Baba's ashram, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Mainpuri Sunil Kumar on Thursday said that "Baba has not been found inside the ashram."
