The player trials were conducted across two days from December 8 to 9, 2022 and featured some promising cricketers from India's domestic circuit. A total of 52 players appeared at the trials.
Bharatiya Janata Party candidate from Gujarat's Viramgam Hardik Patel cast his vote for the second phase of Assembly polls in the state and said that the party would win with a big margin securing 150 seats.

The third and final T20I between New Zealand and India being played at Napier was called off due to rain and as per the Duckworth-Lewis method, the match ended in a tie with India at 75/4 in 9 overs in reply to hosts 160.
