Ahead of Cyclone Biparjoy's landfall, India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday said that the Very Severe Cyclonic Storm (VSCS) can cause severe damage to small structures like thatched houses and uproot trees.
Also, under the influence of the cyclone, high tidal waves hit Gujarat, on Thursday. According to the IMD, VSCS (very severe cyclonic storm) Biparjoy is to cross Saurashtra & Kutch & adjoining Pakistan coasts b/w Mandvi & Karachi near Jakhau Port by the evening of June 15.

As cyclone 'Biparjoy' approaches Gujarat's coastal areas, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh reviewed the preparedness of the Armed Forces to tackle the storm.
Biparjoy is expected to make landfall near the Jakhau coast, Gujarat on the evening of June 15 and will traverse all along the Rann of Kutch up to Rajasthan.

The Border Security Force (BSF) is bracing for the challenges posed by the effects of severe cyclonic storm 'Biparjoy' along the Rann of Kutchh upto Rajasthan and has made special arrangments to ensure the safety of people living along the coastline.
Education Minister Kuber Dindor said, "An important decision has been taken to hold the main examination of TAT(S) on 25/06/2023 by postponing this main examination in view of the prevailing situation of Cyclone Biporjoy."
