As part of its plan to stop littering on streets, the Varanasi Municipal Corporation has announced that those found guilty of dumping garbage on the streets will be slapped with fines, starting from Rs 500 each. The fines may go up to as far as Rs 1,00,000 for repeat offenders.
The people who have been found guilty include Zen, barrister Margaret Ng, former lawmaker Cyd Ho, scholar Hui Po-keung, singer-activist Denise Ho and Sze Ching-wee.
According to Xinhua news agency, Liu was formerly head of the discipline inspection and supervision team sent to the Ministry of State Security by the Communist Party of China Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Commission of Supervision.
The governor further said "If somebody sitting in CM's office is directing VC to appoint his relatives and if the CM doesn't know about it, shows how incompetent he is. If he knows about it, then he is equally guilty."
