The Punjab Government has announced new regulations for the sale and use of firecrackers during the festive seasons of Diwali, Gurpurab, Christmas, and New Year's Eve.
In an effort to curb air pollution and promote environmental sustainability, the UT Administration has permitted the use of eco-friendly green crackers during the forthcoming festivals of Dussehra, Diwali, and Gurpurab, said PRO Chandigarh Administration in an official statement on Friday.

The Supreme Court on Thursday said that it will consider whether the manufacture and use of green crackers in Delhi can be permitted or not and reserved the order on the issue.
The Ministry of Environment also urged the Supreme Court to permit it to take steps for the smooth implementation and quality control of Green Crackers.
