Jairam Thakur, the Leader of the Opposition in the Himachal Pradesh Assembly, on Wednesday, accused Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu of running away from his responsibilities as the state government failed to ensure the salaries of its employees on time this month.
Himachal Pradesh is grappling with a severe financial crisis, causing concern among government employees. For the first time in the state's history, employees have not received their salaries by the 3rd of the month.

Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) national president Mayawati urged the central government on Monday to withdraw the order allowing employees to participate in Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) activities.
Tharoor said that it is the responsibility of the government employees to work for everyone and added that they should remain "neutral" when in government.
"Due to its political interests, the then government had baselessly banned the government employees from participating in the activities of a constructive organization like the Sangh," Sunil Ambekar said.
Countering the government after it permitted government employees to part in the activities of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) Chief Asaduddin Owaisi called the decision "wrong".
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Amit Malviya on Monday said that the "unconstitutional order" issued 58 years ago imposing a ban on government employees taking part in the activities of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh has been withdrawn by the central government.
The Congress leader, in his post on X, launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, alleging that the ban that was in force even during former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee's tenure was removed on July 9.
