West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose on Sunday offered prayers at a Durga Puja pandal in Raja Bazar in West Bengal's Kolkata on the occasion of 'Maha Ashtami', the eighth day of Navratri.
The TMC leaders during the protest said that the march to the Raj Bhavan had been organized to draw Governor C. V. Ananda Bose's attention to the plight of the poor people of the state who have been deprived of their rights by the BJP-led central Government.
West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee attended the tea party which was arranged at Raj Bhavan here by West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose on the occasion of 77th Independence Day.
"There will be a relentless fight against growing violence in Bengal. Those who commit violence in the field will be made to curse the day they are born. All authorities will come down with a heavy hand on the goons and lawbreakers...", Governor Bose said.
Several complaints of violence, murder and intimidation were received at the 'Peace Room' which was set up by West Bengal Governor C V Ananda, the Governor said on Monday.
This step comes in continuation of the field visits of West Bengal Governor C V Ananda Bose to violence-affected areas in the state ahead of the Panchayat polls as well as the representation received by him pertaining to criminal intimidation before the polls.
Panchayat polls in West Bengal will witness a fierce contest between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the ruling Trinamool Congress as it will be seen as a litmus test ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
