Air Customs Intelligence at Cochin International Airport have arrested a person with over 700 Gms of gold paste, concealed inside his rectum, officials said on Saturday.
"AirCustoms@IGIA have booked 3 separate cases of smuggling after 6522 gms of gold concealed by 5 pax in their clothes & rectum were recovered and seized. Value of seized gold is Rs. 3.43 Cr Further investigations are on," the Delhi Customs (Airport and General) posted on X.
"On spot profiling, Air Customs at IGI Airport arrested a passenger who arrived from Dubai after 991.4 gms gold valued at Rs 51.72 lakhs was extracted from 3 capsules concealed in his rectum and seized under Customs Act, 1962. Further investigations are ongoing," officials informed.
In the first case, gold weighing 1.225 kgs valued at Rs 72.55 lakhs was seized. In the second case, 500 gms of smuggled gold valued at Rs 30.51 lakhs was seized.

According to the customs, the male passenger arrived at Hyderabad from Dubai and on thorough scanning of his baggage, gold weighing 455 gms having a value of 21,20,180, concealed in the form of screws and rods (64 screws and 16 rods) of trolley wheels has been recovered.
The Border Security Force (BSF) on Tuesday seized approx 221.96 gms of suspected brown sugar worth Rs 1.10 crore in Tripura's Unakoti district from a train going from Silchar to Agartala, the official said.
