United Nations Resident Coordinator in India, Shombi Sharp, while lauding India’s G20 presidency and its New Delhi Declaration which emphasised achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), said “I’d like to call it an SDG20 Presidency”.
India's permanent representative to the United Nations, Ruchira Kamboj has said it is important for the Global South to be active participants in shaping global decisions as most global challenges have not been created by the Global South but affect it.
Referring to the full consensus achieved by New Delhi Declaration, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said that many people were surprised when India was able to get everybody together.
Underlining the many aspects of India’s G20 presidency that the world might "find useful", External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said New Delhi has walked the talk when it comes to South-South cooperation.
In an exclusive interview with ANI, Tandi Dorji said, "India has always been a very strong partner for Bhutan and will continue to wish India the best. And we hope that India will continue to be the voice of the Global South."
While addressing the India-UN for Global South: Delivering for Development event in New York, Samoa PM said, "I am happy to provide a brief overview of how India's development assistance has facilitated Samoa's development journey."
In an interview with ANI, Sharp said, "We also were very pleased on behalf of the United Nations in India, to launch or to have an exchange of Letter of Intent with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to launch a brand new partnership to help amplify Indian South South Cooperation.
Kamboj recalled that India during the COVID-19 pandemic extended a helping hand by providing made-in-India vaccines to nearly 100 countries and supplying medicines to 150 nations.
While addressing the India-UN for Global South: Delivering for Development in New York, Tandi Dorji said that G20 Summit marked a significant milestone with inclusion of African Union as the permanent member.
