Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi on Thursday met leaders from Rajasthan to assess preparations for assembly polls and bring greater cohesion in the state party unit amid differences between Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot
Congress leader Sachin Pilot will be part of a key meeting of the state party leadership, which will also feature Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, indicating that the two feuding heavyweights of the ruling party may finally be burying the hatchet ahead of the crucial Assembly polls at the end
"The political developments that have taken place in Maharashtra today show that the BJP wants to eliminate the opposition parties on the basis of money power and central agencies. It is highly condemnable," Gehlot said in a tweet.
"Honorable Governor visited the Chief Minister's residence and inquired about his well-being. During the meeting, birthday wishes were extended to the Governor," read a rough translation of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot's tweet in Hindi.
"My deepest condolences to the families of the five persons who died in the accident. May God give strength to the family to be patient during this difficult time," Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said.
Bharatiya Janata Party is gearing up for assembly polls later this year with Home Minister Amit Shah addressing a rally in poll-bound Rajasthan on Friday and JP Nadda public gatherings in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh
While speaking to ANI, DCP Jodhpur (West) Gaurav Yadav said, "A clash erupted between two groups of people over a land dispute, gathered yesterday night. The police used force to disperse the crowd after the law and order situation worsened. The situation is under control now."
"Gehlot Ji's government is on number-1 one in corruption. This government has done the work of breaking all the records of corruption. Gehlot ji broke all the promises he had made," Shah said while addressing a rally in Rajasthan's Udaipur on the completion of nine years of Prime Minister
CM Gehlot on Wednesday said that this is an 'open and shut' case, in which there is clear evidence of the sequence of events. It is sad that even in such a case, the culprits are not punished for one year.
While addressing a program in Chittorgarh, CM Ashok Gehlot said, "In the upcoming assembly elections, our government will return. Every section of society is getting benefits from our public welfare schemes. The public will give us another chance to serve the state."
