The Assam BJP on Sunday raised serious allegations against Assam Congress President Gaurav Gogoi, alleging that sensitive information related to national defence may have been shared with Pakistan, a country regarded as hostile to India.
Speaking to ANI, Baruah said Gogoi should "come forward and explain everything" following Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma's detailed press conference on the matter.
Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said, "Any person who engages in conspiratorial activities against the nation is always deserving of condemnation. The allegations levelled against Gaurav Gogoi today, of being involved in anti-national activities, are reprehensible.
"If Gaurav Gogoi and Elizabeth Gogoi have ties with Pakistan, action should be taken against them. Why have they been waiting for two years? HM Amit Shah and PM Modi continue to listen to his speeches. I don't think this is anything more than political rhetoric," Islam told ANI.
