With the recent heavy rains in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh, the water levels of many rivers in Uttar Pradesh have surged, leading to flooding in districts along Saryu, Ganga and Yamuna rivers.
While speaking about the latest developments in India's Foreign Policy, Jaishankar in Rajya Sabha spoke about Operation Kaveri which was launched to evacuate Indian nationals from Sudan.

As per SDRF officials, nine days of constant rain in Uttarakhand's hilly and plain regions caused the rivers' water levels to rise, subsequently, the SDRF personnel have been instructed to maintain a high degree of alertness.
Following heavy rainfall in Uttarakhand on Monday, the water level of River Alaknanda swelled up significantly as the state is battered with torrential rains and the release of water from barrages resulting in floods.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami chaired a meeting at the secretariat to discuss the development of new townships in various cities of the state.
