Customs officers of the Cochin International Airport arrested a person and seized foreign origin 24-carat gold rings weighing 488.50 gms and gold jewellery weighing 130.80 grams on Sunday.
In yet another success against smuggling activities, Assam Rifles recovered 30 cases of foreign origin cigarettes worth Rupees 39 lakh in general area Zokhawthar-Melbuk Road, Champhai district on Thursday, said an official statement from Assam Rifles.
The Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) at the Cochin airport in Kerala seized four foreign origin gold chains weighing 499.9 grams worth 26,93,861 and having a purity of 24 carats from a passenger from Abu Dhabi (UAE) on Thursday, said an official statement from Customs.
As a part of Special Campaign 3.0, Delhi's Customs Preventive Zone destroyed 328 kg of narcotic substances, valued at Rs 284 crore, and 80.2 lakh sticks of foreign-origin cigarettes, worth Rs 9.85 crore, said an official statement.
"Recovered foreign-origin cigarettes, whiskey and beer worth Rs 27.68 lakh in the general Area Zokhawthar-Melbuk Road, Champhai district on October 24," said a statement issued by Assam Rifles on Wednesday.
A total of 328 kg of narcotic substances, valued at Rs 284 crore, and a staggering 80.2 lakh sticks of foreign origin cigarettes, with an approximate worth of Rs 9.85 crore, were safely and non-hazardously annihilated, read the press release issued by the Ministry of Finance.

In two separate incidents, the Airport Intelligence Unit (AIU) at Cochin International Airport intercepted two passengers and seized gold of foreign origin in a compound form, worth nearly Rs 1 crore, officials said on Wednesday.
"The operation was carried out by a team of Assam Rifles, based on specific information. The entire consignment of 30 cases of foreign-origin beer is worth Rupees One Lakh Eight Thousand only and has been handed over to the customs preventive force, Champhai for further legal proceedings." r
In yet another success in its crusade against smuggling activities, Assam Rifles recovered 265 kilograms of marijuana worth Rs 13.25 lakh in Ashigar, Mandai, and West Tripura, said officials.
