The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA), in collaboration with the World Health Organisation (WHO), organised a national workshop on estimating the burden of foodborne diseases as part of their joint efforts to improve food safety and protect public health.
In order to protect consumers from becoming ill, produce such as lettuce and spinach are frequently tested for foodborne pathogenic bacteria such as salmonella, listeria monocytogenes, and pathogenic strains of E. coli.
As per the statement, the aim of this project is to encourage safe and healthy food practices among food businesses and community members, thus, reducing foodborne illnesses and improving overall health outcomes.
