At least 6 people, including 2 children, were hospitalised due to suffocation after a fire broke out while an e-rickshaw was being charged on the ground floor of a building in Delhi's Shahdara, the police said on Monday.
The fire broke out in one of the rooms and a hall on the hotel's third floor. The building comprised a basement, ground floor, and three upper storeys.
"We could not enter the building through the main gate as it was engulfed in flames, so we broke the shutter to go inside. Then, five to six of us broke through a wall and entered the first floor. But the whole place was engulfed in flames."
"The incident happened around 12 in the Mohan Hotel. A fire broke out in the hotel's kitchen on the ground floor. 17 rooms of that hotel were occupied... No casualties have been reported...The fire has been extinguished," Kumar told ANI while at the site.
