Cold weather and dense fog continued to prevail in Delhi and several places in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar on Sunday, delaying flights, trains and other modes of transportation.
Delhi airport is experiencing heavy delays in flight operations due to dense fog and bad weather. 22 international departures are delayed, 20 international arrivals delayed, 31 domestic arrivals, and 46 domestic departures, said an official from Airport Delhi . Around 24 long-distance trains
While several flights were delayed at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport as a layer of fog gripped the national capital. Arond 28 long distance trains to Delhi were also running behind schedule by up to five hours or more.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), visibility at Delhi-Palam was reduced from 400 meters at 2:00 am to 100 meters at 2:30 am on Sunday, and it further reduced to 0 meters since 3:00 am.
At least 22 domestic flights, which were delayed by over three hours owing to reduced visibility brought on by persistent fog, departed from the India Gandhi International Airport in the national capital on Tuesday.
Due to the thick fog, several flights in the Delhi Airport were delayed. The low visibility also delayed arrival and departure of several Delh-bound trains.
The Delhi airport reported delays in flight operations affecting approximately 134 flights, both arrivals and departures (domestic and international), due to fog. As many as 22 trains were delayed at the New Delhi Railway Station as well, amid low visibility.
As per Delhi Airport's Flight Information Display System, a total of 11 international flights and 5 domestic flights to and from the airport were delayed today.
