Sri Lankan Navy Police arrested the fishermen on July 8, claiming that they had crossed the border and were fishing in the area under the jurisdiction of Sri Lanka.
The Indian fishermen who were released by the Pakistan government said that they crossed the border while fishing as they were unaware of the border in the sea.
The Indian fishermen boarded the flight to India from Medan following their release. The initiative was able to reach its conclusion through the joint efforts of the Ministry of External Affairs and the Indian Embassy in Jakarta.
