A forest fire has been sweeping through the dense foliage in the mountains surrounding Nainital over the last 36 hours, an official said, adding that the Indian Air Force (IAF) has deployed its personnel and MI-17 choppers in a dousing operation in the area.

Taking to its social media handle, IAF posted on X, "Continuing its firefighting efforts to douse the raging forest fire in the Nilgiris, the IAF Mi-17 V5 helicopter undertook multiple Bambi Bucket Operations."
The firefighting operations continued till Tuesday evening after a massive fire broke out at a firecracker factory in Madhya Pradesh's Harda district in the morning leaving eleven dead and around 150 others sustained injuries.
