With the Supreme Court allowing limited use of green crackers coinciding with Diwali, Delhi Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa has said that licensed firecracker manufacturers have to ensure that only green firecrackers are sold in Delhi-NCR.

The Supreme Court on Wednesday relaxed the firecracker ban conditions in the Delhi-NCR region ahead of Diwali and allowed the bursting and sale of green firecrackers from October 18 to October 21.
On Friday, the Supreme Court indicated that it would lift restrictions on the bursting of green firecrackers in the National Capital Region for Diwali.
Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, appearing for the Delhi-NCR states, said that PESO and NEERI will periodically inspect the manufacture of crackers and ensure that only approved green fire formulations are sold in the market.
