According to the Delhi Fire Services Department, a fire call was received from Gopaldas Bhawan regarding the fire between 12: 56 and 12: 57 pm on Thursday.
"A furniture godown caught fire. It looks like there could be a loss of Rs 50-60 lakhs. The cause of the fire is currently unknown. Fire tenders are at the spot. Efforts to douse the fire are underway," Daljeet Singh, a police officer said.
Several wholesale and retail vegetable shops were gutted in the fire. Four fire tenders have rushed to the spot and efforts are on to douse the fire, fire officials said.

The charred remains of two people were recovered from a building in the Girgaon Chowpatty area of Mumbai after a fire broke out on Saturday night, officials said.
