In a post on X, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, "A warm welcome to India! President Alexander Stubb of the Republic of Finland has arrived in New Delhi on a State Visit to India."
The visit, which will include the participation of a high-level delegation of ministers, senior officials, and business leaders, is aimed at deepening bilateral ties and expanding cooperation between India and Finland across various sectors, MEA said in its release.
Finnish President Alexander Stubb welcomed the EU-India Free Trade Agreement as historic. India and the EU concluded the long-pending pact, cutting tariffs on most goods. Leaders called it a major boost to trade and ties, with PM Modi urging businesses to deepen cooperation.
World leaders gathered in New York for Day 2 of the UN General Assembly. Speakers include Ukraine's Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Iran's Masoud Pezeshkian, Argentina's Javier Milei, and Syria's Ahmed al-Sharaa.
"I've been speaking to PM Modi recently about the situation in Ukraine. India has a geopolitical stake here. So we need to get them involved," Stubb said at the Helsinki Security Forum 2025.
Stubb, while addressing a press conference with Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda on Tuesday, said that the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit was a reminder to the West of the might of the Global South.
