Students from various regions of Pakistan-occupied Gilgit-Baltistan have initiated protests at the Diamer campus of Karakoram International University, mirroring ongoing protests at the Hunza campus.
Recognised private schools in Delhi that have land allotted by the government must get the prior approval of the Directorate of Education before increasing fees for the 2024-25 academic session, stated an official order by the Delhi government.
The students of Karakoram International University in the Gilgit-Baltistan region are staging a protest against fee hikes and administrative mismanagement. Students can be seen chanting slogans in support of their demands while boycotting classes.
The students have complained that their schools lack even the basic requirements, they do not have furniture, they have to sit in open classrooms and have no drinking water facility.
The poor students of Gilgit Baltistan are unable to pay the excessive increase in the semester fees. The unreasonable raise in the university fees has disgruntled the students and their parents as administration has allegedly increased the fees by 25 percent two times in a semester.
The Delhi government's Directorate of Education on Tuesday suspended the recognition of Delhi Public School, Sector-24, Rohini for non-compliance with fee hike rules.
