Fumed over Centre's decision to impose an export duty of 40 per cent on onions till December 31 farmers at Agriculture Produce Market Committee (APMC) of Lasalgaon in Nashik continued to protest on the third day and onions auctions remain halted.
Recently, the Central government imposed a 40 per cent export duty on the kitchen staple which prompted onion farmers in the state to stage a protest in Maharashtra’s Nashik district on Monday.
Nationalist Congress Party leader Supriya Sule on Tuesday accused the BJP-led Central government of being anti-farmer and said that the farmers are suffering due to the increased input costs.
