"The 16 students were brought to the hospital after they complained of vomiting and abdominal pain following the mid-day meal at school. They have been admitted to the paediatric ward," said Sunil Phakle, Dean, Jan Shatabdi Hospital, Chembur.
The students are around 18 to 25 years old and they had food in the mess of the institute. They are undergoing treatment at a government hospital in the district and are said to be in stable condition.
Around 50 students of a primary school in Bihar were hospitalised on Tuesday (September 12) after they fell ill after consuming their mid-day meal, an official said.
A case was registered by the Delhi police against unknown persons under relevant sections of the IPC on Saturday after 23 students from Nigam Pratibha Vidyalaya, located in Delhi's Inderpuri, were hospitalized on Friday following vomiting, said the police.
Approximately 20 people began vomiting after the meal, and seven of them lost consciousness and had to be sent to the Jarranwala Tehsil Headquarters Hospital.
"There will be no compromise with the health of the players and the government is fully committed to the health and safety of the players," Punjab sports minister said.
The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) on Thursday issued notice to the Chief Secretary, Government of Bihar over the reported illness of about 150 children after consuming Mid-Day-Meal at a government school in West Champaran.
According to the police, the victims were immediately rushed to Rangjuli Primary Health Centre where the doctor said that it seemed to be cases of food poisoning.
The family members are the residents of Naliya Bakhal locality in the district and all of them were admitted to the district hospital on Friday evening, they said.
Police have filed a First Information Report (FIR) following a complaint after at least 137 nursing and paramedical students fell ill due to suspected food poisoning at a private hostel in Mangaluru's Shaktinagar on Monday.
