The crime branch team also recovered counterfeit notes of Rs 500 denomination with the face value of Rs 4.35 lakh and various accessories, including printers, butter paper, cutting machines, lamination rolls, and laptop and mobile phones from their procession, he added.
According to the police, the accused reportedly used to make counterfeit notes using chemicals and circulate them in the market by luring people with promises to multiply their money tenfold, enticing victims to exchange their legitimate cash for fake notes
In Lucknow, Government Railway Police busted fake currency racket. During this, a person with fake notes worth Rs 1.97 lakh was arrested. All the notes are of Rs 500 denomination.
Sharing information, Sukma District Superintendent of Police Kiran Chavan said, "We received information on June 22, Saturday, about the printing of fake currency notes by Naxals. Hence, an operation was launched in the area and printers, ink, and fake notes were seized."
At least six people have been arrested for allegedly printing and circulating fake currency notes of Rs 500 denomination and seized 440 notes worth over Rs 2 lakh in Pune district.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) searched four states on Saturday and busted fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) rackets being carried out in various parts of the country by seizing fake notes, currency printing paper, printer and digital gadgets.
"We arrested 4 people with fake currency notes after conducting an operation in Naren village. Rs 10.5 lakh fake notes, 4 mobiles, and 3 bikes recovered. We are taking further action by registering a case," said SDPO Ankita Kumbhar.
