In a public conversation with External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar in New Delhi on Thursday, renowned author Ashley Tellis lauded India's quest to be a leading power and its policy choices.
Underscoring the importance of India's G20 presidency, the External Affairs Minister, S Jaishankar on Thursday said that India has a middle-ground to bring different parties to the table.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Thursday highlighted a sea change in geopolitics and said that India's G-20 presidency comes at "a very challenging time in world politics and at an inflexion point."
This event saw the virtual participation of students and leading academicians from 75 universities across the country with top leaders, scholars, and academicians. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will be attending with students and vice-chancellors.
India will formally assume the G20 presidency starting today, thereby beginning a unique opportunity for the country to contribute to the global agenda on pressing issues of international importance. India also assumes the monthly rotating Presidency of the UNSC from today.
G-20's India Coordinator, Harsh Vardhan Shringla said that the developing countries that have felt adverse impacts of the pandemic and the consequence of the Ukraine conflict look to India's presidency for the solution.
Jaishankar made these remarks during the annual flagship event co-hosted by the Ministry of External Affairs and Carnegie India. The theme for this year's Summit is Geopolitics of Technology.
Top Indonesian minister Mohammed Mahfud MD is in Delhi on the invitation of National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. He is accompanied by a high-level delegation of Ulema. Visiting Ulema from Indonesia will also be interacting with their Indian counterparts.
Particular emphasis was laid on R&D and manufacturing in line with requirements of future wars. Both sides could strategise jointly and identify priority areas for co-development in line with India's Make in India policy.
