Assam Assembly Deputy Speaker Numal Momin on Thursday blamed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for encouraging encroachers, after police personnel were attacked by miscreants in the Paikan area of Goalpara district.
Miscreants attacked several police personnel at Paikan area in Assam's Goalpara district, where the administration carried out a massive eviction drive a few days back.

Tejas Mariswamy, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) of Goalpara Division, said that there is encroachment in around 140 hectares of land in the Paikan Reserve Forest area, and the High Court has instructed to clear it in order to revive the forest.
