European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said that India and the European Union have concluded the much-anticipated free trade agreement, touted as the 'Mother of all Deals'.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, after signing the security and defence partnership with European Commission Vice President Kaja Kallas on Tuesday, stressed that he is looking forward to "greater cooperation" between India and the EU countries.
US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent accused Europe of indirectly funding the Russia-Ukraine war by buying Indian-refined fuel made from Russian oil, defended US tariffs on India, and said Indian crude purchases have dropped, suggesting a possible path to easing tariffs.
This marks Priesner's first Republic Day celebrations in India since assuming charge, after presenting his credentials to the Ministry of External Affairs Secretary Sibi George on January 19.

Sefcovic described the prospective pact as the "mother of all deals," noting that negotiators are "checking their final numbers" as the European bloc pushes to reduce India's steep import duties that can reach up to 150 % in some sectors.
Speaking to the reporters, Singhania said, "As far as the budget is concerned, the EU trade deal is expected to happen tomorrow. I think that will be a significant step to bring America to the negotiating table if India gets a very good deal with the EU."
