A special Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) court has sent the accused Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) scientist Dr Pradeep Kurulkar to ATS custody till Tuesday.
A permanent resident of Hong Kong, John Shing-Wan Leung, was convicted of spying and given a life sentence on Monday by the Intermediate People's Court in the eastern city of Suzhou, as per a statement on the court's social media account.
While demanding further custody of the accused DRDO scientist Dr Pradeep Kurulkar, the prosecution informed the court that the scientist had met some women at the DRDO guest house for which the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) of Maharashtra has sought the registered entries from the guest house,
The National People's Congress (NPC) standing committee on April 26 passed an amendment to strengthen China's anti-spy law. The amended law will take effect on July 1.
The revised law, which will come into effect in July, expands the definition of espionage, by including cyber attacks against state organs or critical information infrastructure, DW wrote quoting state news agency Xinhua.
