This development comes after Union Environment Minister Bhupendra Yadav clarified that only 0.19% or 277 sq km of the 1.44 lakh sq km of the Aravalli hills will be allowed for mining.
Amid a row that erupted over the revised definition of the Aravalli hills, Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Bhupender Yadav, on Monday, assured that mining is not allowed in the NCR region.
"Mining activity in the Aravalli range will only be possible in 0.19 per cent of the area, which is less than one per cent, and even there, no new mines have been opened," Yadav said in an interview with ANI.
On the issue of potential exposure of the Aravalli ranges to mining, Arun Chaturvedi said, "The Supreme Court has not yet issued any order; instead, it has asked the central government to prepare and present a comprehensive action plan on this matter."
