Amid the ongoing atrocities and enforced disappearances in Balochistan, Pakistani security forces have recently targeted Baloch activists and leaders who speak out against these human rights violations, resorting to abductions and killings.
The United Nations Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination issued its findings on Pakistan, and called on the nation to take the necessary measures to investigate and prosecute reports of enforced disappearances, reported The Balochistan Post.
The youth, identified as Sarfaraz Ahmed the son of Zahoor Ahmed Langova, a resident doctor from Khaliqabad detained by Pakistan armed forces at Johan Cross in Kalat district's Manguchar Balochistan, The Balochistan Post reported.
The report further stated that on July 15, an agreement was reached in which the Pakistani government committed to filing an FIR against an unidentified official of the armed forces and forming a committee to locate Zaheer within 15 days.
The ongoing issue of enforced disappearances in Balochistan has sparked widespread protests, with Baloch people rallying against the Pakistani armed forces, who are allegedly abducting prominent Baloch activists for speaking out against atrocities.
YouTuber Aun Ali Khosa, who was reportedly abducted on August 15, has safely returned home, according to his lawyers. The Lahore High Court had ordered the police to locate Khosa by August 20 following a petition from his wife, Binish Iqbal, who alleged unlawful detention and feared enforced
She said, "Enforced disappearances are the cruelest form of suppression and it further fuels the Baloch genocide. In Kalat, 9 members of a single family were abducted during a military operation in 2016. And they still question the Baloch struggle?"
