Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Sunday honoured several women for their outstanding contributions in different fields during a programme organised in Nahan, Sirmaur district, to mark International Women's Day.
"A scheme has been announced providing Rs 1,000 per month for women in the General category and Rs 1,500 for women from the Scheduled Castes and backward classes," Mann told the media.
Addressing the gathering, the President said that women are playing a leading role in every field--education, administration, judiciary, military, medicine, science, technology, arts and entrepreneurship. Women in rural areas are becoming financially self-reliant through Self-Help Groups.
