After the April 2015 earthquake in Nepal, India committed USD 250 million in grant assistance for post-earthquake reconstruction in Nepal, the Embassy of India in Kathmandu said on Monday.
India's 76th Republic Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm by the Consulate General of India in Shanghai and the Embassy of India in Kathmandu on Sunday. The events brought together members of the Indian diaspora, friends of India, and local communities in China and Nepal.
As a part of the programme, several schools in Kathmandu participated in Hindi poetry recitations and skits, where students presented powerful poems on a range of thought-provoking themes. The artist from Nepal Pragya Pratisthaan also participated in the event.
The ceremony, attended by Nabil Bikram Shah, Chairman of Airawati Rural Municipality, and Prashant Kumar Sona, Second Secretary at the Embassy of India in Kathmandu, marks a significant step in bolstering educational infrastructure in the region.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by the presence of the Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy of India in Kathmandu Prasanna Shrivastava, Chief of District Coordination Committee Kapilvastu Baburam Acharya and Mayor of Buddhabhumi Municipality Keshav Kumar Shrestha.
The celebration was held at the India House lawn inside the Indian Embassy premises and was attended by dozens of ITEC alumni which included Nepali leaders as well as bureaucrats.
In order to celebrate 75 years of diplomatic ties between India and Nepal, the embassy of India in Kathmandu organized a music concert, "Sangeet Sukoon" on Friday featuring performances of the Indian band Carnatic 2.0 and Nepali band Kutumba.
The Embassy of India in Kathmandu organized Vishwa Hindi Diwas jointly with the Central Hindi Department of Tribhuwan University on Tuesday at the embassy premises.
