The Andhra Pradesh government has declared Tuesday, April 1, an optional holiday following the celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr on March 31. Chief Secretary K Vijayanand made the announcement through Government Order No 637 on Monday.
People's Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti on Monday extended her greetings to everyone on Eid and expressed her sadness over the suffering of Muslims in the country.

Security personnel have been stationed in large numbers to maintain law and order during the religious celebrations, ensuring the safety of thousands of people who have gathered for the special prayers marking the end of Ramzan.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Vishwajeet Srivastava said that through the use of AI drones, the message of any suspicious activity would be sent to the mobile phones of the police personnel and the control room.
Scores of people gathered at Eidgah in the state capital Bhopal, offered Nazam and greeted each other to celebrate the festival. Similarly, thousands of people assembled at Kampoo Idgah in Gwalior to offer Namaz and in other regions of the state on the occasion.
One of the revered festival of the Islamic community, people observed it by reciting special Namaz and exchanging greetings with each other. The festival is celebrated after the conclusion of the dawn-to-dusk fasting during the entire month of Ramadan.
Sheikh Salahuddin, the guardian of the mosque, said, "Today is Eid-ul-Fitr. Every believer comes here and prays. Every man hugs every person during the festival of Eid. People come in thousands to offer Namaz on Eid."
The Outer District Police in New Delhi have intensified security measures to ensure a safe and peaceful celebration of Eid and Navratri in the region. With the festive season around the corner, the authorities are leaving no stone unturned to maintain law and order.
