Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, who will be the chief guest at the Republic Day Parade, held discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday and the two countries decided to take bilateral trade to 12 billion dollars in the next five years
President Droupadi Murmu received Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Wednesday. She also hosted a banquet in his honour, said a press release from the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
The commander of the Egyptian Army contingent, Colonel Mahmoud Mohamed Abdelfattah Elkharasawy, expressed his delight at being invited to participate in India's 74th Republic Day parade on Thursday, hoping that the gesture will go a long way towards boosting bilateral ties and friendship
Building on last year's celebrations, in the 75th year of Independence, celebrated as 'Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav', the Republic Day celebration this year shall witness zeal, enthusiasm, patriotic fervour and 'Jan Bhagidari', as envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He further said, "I met PM Modi in 2015 in New York and I had full confidence in him. I knew he will take his nation forward. I have invited Prime Minister Modi to Cairo, Egypt to complete our talks and elevate the ties between the two nations to a strategic partnership."
"We've decided that under India-Egypt Strategic Partnership we will develop a long term framework for greater cooperation in the fields of politics, security, economics and science," PM Modi said at a joint press conference after holding wide-ranging talks with visiting Egyptian President
"I reiterate my congratulations to the Indian nation, government and people for this great day. It is a great privilege to be a guest of honour and participate in the glorious national day," Egyptian President Sisi at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in Delhi.
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's visit to India is believed to be 'historic' as he has come to the country for the first time and that too as a chief guest for the 74th Republic Day of the country.
