The Election Commission of India (ECI) has directed the Jharkhand State Government to remove Anurag Gupta from his position as the Acting Director General of Police (DGP) with immediate effect, sources told ANI.
The 81-seat Jharkhand Assembly is going to elections November 13 and 20 while Maharashtra will go in for a single-phase election on November 20, the ECI said.
The bypolls are spread across fifteen states - Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Meghalaya, Punjab, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and West Bengal.
