The poll body responded to P Chidambaram's claim that there has been an addition of approximately 6.5 lakh migrant workers to the electoral roll in Tamil Nadu. ECI pointed out that "false figures" are being floated about "enrollment of 6.5 lakh voters" in Tamil Nadu.
"From 1 August 2025 (3 PM) till 3 August (3 PM), all political parties put together have filed zero claims and objections for the addition of the names of eligible electors and deletion of the names of ineligible electors," said the Commission in a press note.
Venugopal, speaking to ANI, alleged that the names of many voters have been "excluded" from the draft electoral rolls for Bihar recently released by the EC.
Chidambaram said that mass disenfranchisement is a serious issue and questioned whether any inquiry was done by the ECI to ascertain the "permanently migrated" status of enrolled voters in Bihar.
