Protestors highlighted the importance of Doppa Day and briefed the gathering that Doppa is a symbol of the struggle for the head cap of the Uyghur residents of East Turkestan, a Muslim country occupied by China. They also condemned China for torturing the Uyghur Muslims.
China's tactics of oppressing the Uyghur Muslims, who are fighting for freedom, appears to have rubbed off on Turkey as they are restricting the activities of East Turkestan, Yucel Tanay writes in Voice Against Autocracy.
Around 120 Uyghur men and women joined the protest which was addressed by local Uyghur leader Abdullahad Udun, General Secretary of East Turkestan Human Right Watch (ETHR) and activist Omer Qarim.
