An earthquake of magnitude 6.2 on the Richter scale jolted Indonesia's Irian Jaya late at night on Saturday, the National Centre for Seismology reported.
"Earthquake of Magnitude: 3.6, Occurred on 30-12-2023, 16:57:41 IST, Lat: 34.43 and Long: 74.22, Depth: 5 km, Region: Kupwara, Jammu and Kashmir," the National Centre for Seismology posted on X.
"Earthquake of Magnitude: 4.6, Occurred on 29-12-2023, 22:01:19 IST, Lat: 25.14 and Long: 96.54, Depth: 120 Km, Location: 208km E of Ukhrul, Manipur", the NCS posted X.
The mock exercise on earthquake preparedness was conducted at the airport office premises of the airport, under the airport operator and NDRF, with the aim of monitoring and expediting the implementation of the prescribed emergency plans.
A low-intensity earthquake of 3.3 magnitude on the Richter Scale was recorded near Ambikapur in Chhattisgarh's Surguja district on Tuesday, the National Centre for Seismology (NCS) informed.
On the 19th anniversary of the 2004 Tsunami on Tuesday, the fisherfolk and locals in Tamil Nadu's Cuddalore district paid homage to those who lost lives in the catastrophe.
"Earthquake of Magnitude: 3.5 occurred on December 23 at 19:25 IST, Lat: 25.55 and Long: 90.48, Depth: 5 Km, Location: 28km E of Tura, Meghalaya," NCS posted.
According to the seismological centre, the tremors were felt around 5:30 am in parts of Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The earthquake's depth was recorded at 16 kilometres.
