Japan Ambassador to India Hiroshi Suzuki has said he is grateful for condolences, prayers and warm encouragements from India regarding the Noto Earthquake in Japan.
The Union Cabinet Chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the scheme "PRITHvi VIgyan (PRITHVI)" of the Ministry of Earth Sciences, for implementation during the period from 2021-26 at an overall cost of Rs 4,797 crore.
As per sources, PM Modi said to Japan PM that he is deeply anguished and concerned to learn about the major earthquake that struck Japan on January 1, 2024.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar announced that the Indian government will provide a financial assistance package of approximately NPR 1000 crores to Nepal to provide further support following the recent earthquake in Jajarkot, Indian embassy in Kathmandu said in a press statement.
