Two persons have been arrested for duping a woman on the pretext of offering an attractive travel package to Gujarat on the social media page, the Delhi Police informed on Sunday.
The accused has been identified as Suresh Kumar (40), a resident of Pali, Rajasthan. He had duped Rs 5.2 lakhs from a famous jeweller in Bhopal by posing as the income tax officer. The police also recovered a mobile phone, SIM and Rs 1 lakh rupees cash from the accused.
The accused would ask for the complete login credentials from the customers and after logging into the account, would get the money transferred to their bank accounts using CRED App, police said.
Delhi police busted a gang and arrested three persons on Thursday for allegedly duping people on the pretext of offering jobs in countries like Turkey and Ethiopia, officials said.
"They induced the complainant to pay half of the money after depositing their money. They handed the packet of Rs 2 lakh and replaced his packet of Rs 50,000," police added.
