Tabassum Qureshi, a television producer has filed an FIR alleging that she has been duped of Rs 61,900 by a fraudster posing as a hospital staff while trying to book a doctor's appointment, the Delhi police informed Today.
"The accused allegedly duped banks of over Rs 50 lakh by fraudulently using details of celebrities like MS Dhoni, Abhishek Bachchan, Sonam Kapoor, Sachin Tendulkar, Saif Ali Khan, Hritik Roshan, Alia Bhatt, Shilpa Shetty & others," DCP Shahdara Rohit Meena said.
A young lady in Delhi was duped 6 Lakh rupees by fraudsters who were posing as Mumbai Police officers. They said that a fake parcel was being in her name from FedEx Mumbai office. Lady transferred the 6lakh amount due to fear of accounts being blocked. Police has registered the FIR.
"So far, around 300 Indian nationals have been rescued. While we continue our efforts for securing the release of the remaining Indian nationals, we reiterate advisories against falling prey to job offers by transnational crime syndicates," tweeted India in Myanmar.
According to the police, the accused persons had extorted about Rs 5,79,500 from the complainant and had demanded more money for settling the matter with the girl's family.
