Delhi State Legal Service Authority (DSLSA) is organising a National Lok Adalat under the aegis of the National Legal Service Authority (NALSA) on December 14. Lok Adalat is a forum where compoundable criminal and civil disputes can be amicably settled.
The Delhi High Court on Tuesday issued guidelines to Delhi State Legal Services Authority (DSLSA) for disbursal of compensation to victims of child abuse in POCSO Cases.
As per the press release of DSLSA, a total of 360 Lok Adalat benches were constituted at seven district court complexes, whereas in Delhi High Court, District Consumer Forums, Debt Recovery Tribunals (DRT) and Permanent Lok Adalat, 16 benches were constituted.
The Delhi State Legal Services Authority organised a national lok adalat on Saturday in the High Court, various district courts and tribunals in the city. Over one lakh cases were settled and the settlement amount was Rs 3428.67 crore.
With a view to fostering a sense of inclusivity amongst people from the North East Region of India, special efforts have been made to engage them as 'Associate Members' in the Lok Adalat benches, Mukesh Kumar Gupta, Member Secretary of DSLSA said.
"Overall, in this Special Lok Adalat, 41 Lok Adalat Benches were constituted in which 2,008 cases were settled and the settlement amount was Rs. 29.28 Crore," DSLSA said in a statement.
