The Narcotics Cell of Delhi Police has busted an active supply chain of women drug peddlers in Outer North Delhi and recovered heroin worth Rs 10 lakh in the international market from their possession, officials said on Saturday.
Visakhapatnam Special Enforcement Bureau (SEB) Joint Director Bammidi Srinivasa Rao said, "SEB officials will act more strictly in the case of illegal drug sellers who are ruining the future of the youth".
One person, involved in smuggling contraband drugs, on Tuesday evening was injured in police firing while he tried to attack police personnel in Assam's Nagaon district.
It was alleged that ASP Mittal demanded the bribe from a suspected drug dealer and even got a broker to threaten him with a case under the Narcotics Drug and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985 if he refused to comply.
Officials said that they had seized 500 grams of narcotics along with over one lakh cash from the drug peddler who was arrested from the Karnah area of the district.
A total of six drug peddlers have been arrested within three days by Anantnag Police during its special drive. The accused has been identified as Mukhtar Ahmad Shah, a resident of Darpora Chee. Police said they have registered a case and taken up an investigation.
