Officials of the Border Security Force (BSF) foiled a smuggling bid after it shot down a Pakistani drone and seized over 15 Kg of contraband drugs, dropped from the unmanned aerial vehicle, in Amritsar, a BSF official said on Wednesday.
In a statement, BSF said, "On Friday at about 02:28 am, BSF troops deployed along the Indo-Pakistan border in the area of Metla in the Gurdaspur sector of Punjab detected a drone infiltrating into Indian territory from Pakistan side, and subsequently fired upon the rogue drone."

According to the PRO, BSF, Punjab Frontier, the troops deployed at the border recovered the contraband on Monday after they heard the sound of a suspected flying object/drone entering from Pakistan into Indian territory.
According to the BSF, they recovered three 3 packets, containing 7.5 kgs of suspected heroin, a pistol, two magazines and 50 rounds of 9 mm ammunition.
The DGP further informed that the Tarn Taran Police, during its joint search operation with the BSF, recovered a Hexacopter drone which contained 5 kgs of heroin.
